Frequently Asked Questions

What materials can I request a custom print be made from?

At Red Eagle Prints, we offer a wide range of high-quality filaments to match your project’s needs. PLA is our go-to all-purpose material — easy to print, affordable, and eco-friendly, ideal for prototypes and decorative items. PLA-AERO is a lightweight version perfect for drones and RC models, while PLA-CF adds carbon fiber for extra stiffness and a matte finish. PETG offers more durability and moisture resistance than PLA, making it great for mechanical parts and enclosures, and PETG-CF takes that further with added strength and reduced warping. We also offer PET-CF which has the similar properties to PETG. PET offers higher strength and temperature resistance than PETG although is more brittle in certain applications. ABS is a classic engineering plastic that’s impact-resistant and can be smoothed with acetone, while ASA provides the same strength with added UV stability for outdoor use. ASA-CF enhances that even more for rugged, high-performance applications. Nylon (PA) is flexible and wear-resistant for gears and hinges, and PA-CF reinforces it with carbon fiber for heat-resistant, structural parts. PPA-CF handles high-temperature industrial applications, and PPS-CF stands at the top for extreme chemical and thermal resistance. For flexible prints, TPU offers rubber-like flexibility and impact absorption, perfect for phone cases, gaskets, and other shock-resistant parts.

At Red Eagle Prints, we strive to have as fast of a turnaround time as possible. Due to supply chain issues, filaments with fiber additives will have a longer turnaround time. If you have any questions, please contact customer service.

Keep in mind that we are not limited to these materials; these are the most commonly requested ones. We can also accommodate prints with multiple materials, for example, one part being PLA and another being TPU. Reach out to us through our contact us page with a detailed description of your needs, and we will make it happen!

What filament do you use? Can I request other brands?

At Red Eagle Prints, we primarily use Bambu Lab filament as it’s known for its consistency, durability, and vibrant color quality. This ensures each print meets our high standards for strength, quality, and finish.

If you’d prefer a different filament brand for your order, custom requests are welcome. We’ll review compatibility with our equipment and confirm availability before printing. Please note that using alternate brands may affect production time or cost.

Can we print customer-supplied files?

Yes! Red Eagle Prints accepts customer-supplied STL, 3MF, or OBJ files for custom printing. Before printing, we’ll review your file to ensure it’s compatible with our equipment and meets printability standards — such as proper wall thickness, geometry, and orientation.
If we find issues that could affect print quality, we’ll contact you with suggestions or offer to make minor adjustments for a small setup fee.

If you want Red Eagle Prints to make adjustments to a file, STEP files are preferred but not required, some file types are limited in adjustability.

Please note: You must own the rights or have permission to use any design you submit. At Red Eagle Prints, we trust our customers to ensure their submitted files do not infringe on any copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights. Red Eagle Prints reserves the right to decline any print request that may violate intellectual property or legal restrictions and disclaims all liability for unauthorized use of protected designs. We recommend submitting proof of ownership or permission when applicable to help make the review and printing process more streamlined and transparent.

Can you help design a custom part?

Absolutely. We offer custom CAD modeling and design assistance for both functional parts and display pieces. If you have an idea, sketch, or rough measurement, we can help bring it to life by creating a printable 3D model optimized for strength, fit, and appearance.

Design services are quoted separately based on complexity and estimated time. Once approved, you’ll receive a digital preview or render before printing begins to ensure it matches your vision.

What are your maximum print dimensions?

Our standard printers can produce parts up to approximately 350 × 320 × 325 mm in one piece.
Larger designs can still be printed — we simply split the model into sections for printing and later assembly with adhesive or mechanical fittings. This allows us to handle oversized projects while maintaining quality and detail. If you’re unsure whether your model fits within these limits, upload your file on our contact us page or upload the dimensions, and we’ll confirm right away.

Do you offer multi-color or dual-material prints?

Yes, Red Eagle Prints offers multi-color printing using advanced filament systems capable of layered or color-swapped designs. We can print with up to 4-16 filament colors per model, depending on the design and complexity.

We also support dual-material printing in compatible filaments — such as combining PLA with TPU for a replacement remote control for a TV.

If you want specific color placement, you can include notes or color references when submitting your design, and we’ll match it as closely as possible.

OBJ files carry color data and we can accommodate without a set up fee for multi-color prints. Other file types, depending on complexity may include a set up fee.

Can Red Eagle Prints 3D print parts for firearms?

Short answer: No—Red Eagle Prints will only 3D print benign accessories that do not form, complete, modify, or interfere with the action or mechanism of a firearm. We will not 3D print receivers, barrels, bolts, firing pins, magazines intended to increase capacity, or any component that could be used to manufacture, modify, complete, or convert a firearm (including any items regulated under the National Firearms Act). We also refuse to produce anything that would enable evasion of federal registration or serialization requirements.

Why: Federal law and ATF regulations govern the manufacturing, modification, and certain components of firearms. In particular, 18 U.S.C. § 922 makes it unlawful for unlicensed persons to engage in the business of manufacturing or dealing in firearms, and ATF regulations in 27 C.F.R. Parts 478 and 479 implement licensing, NFA (National Firearms Act) rules, and related requirements. We will comply with those laws and ATF guidance.

What we will 3D print

  • Non-functional accessories and aesthetic items that do not interact with a firearm’s firing, feeding, or safety mechanisms (examples: engraved dust covers/covers that don’t interact with the action, decorative grips that replace only external grip panels and do not house or alter internal parts, non-structural sling mounts, rail covers, cosmetic furniture, stands, or display pieces).

  • Parts for lawful sporting, display, or collection purposes that do not enable the manufacturing or modification of a firearm.

What we will not 3D print (examples, but not limited to)

  • Frames/receivers or any part that functions as the serialized core of a firearm.

  • Barrels, bolts, firing pins, sears, triggers that are intended to function as part of the firing mechanism.

  • Any part designed to convert, assemble, or complete a firearm (including items regulated under the NFA such as short-barreled rifles/shotguns, suppressors, or machine-gun conversion parts) or parts intended to evade detection/serialization rules.

This FAQ reflects federal law only. State and local laws may be more restrictive, you are solely responsible for confirming compliance. Red Eagle Prints disclaims all liability for any customer's violation of state or local firearms laws. While we try to stay informed, you should independently verify all applicable laws before ordering.
